Reinstatement of Road dug by Electricity Department

The Attention of the house is drawn with regards to the commencement of the 33 KV underground cabling work will lead to the excavation of the road from the Saligao Substation to the Saligao- Calangute border and further on. Before the excavation of roads, the work order of reinstatement of the road should be issued.

During the last monsoon similar work of laying the Water Resources Department raw water pipeline was laid and as the roads were not reinstated before monsoon, the entire stretch of road was washed away as it is on a slope, several serious accidents occurred and people had to face hardship. This road also leads to Pilerne IDC and the waste management plant and there is a flow of heavy vehicles to both places.

I urge the Government to take the necessary steps before planning to lay the cables and make sure the reinstatement of roads is done before the monsoon starts, otherwise, it will lead to similar conditions in the last monsoon, where the roads were washed away causing serious accidents and paralyzing the movement of heavy vehicles going to IDC Pilerne and waste management plant which will lead to heavy losses to Government and private sector.

Non-maintenance of the water pump at Major pumping station in Saligao Constituency

\" Attention is drawn to this House regards the people of Saligao Constituency as the water pumps at the major pumping station of Saligao constituency are not maintained and monitored properly.

There are two major pumping stations in Saligao Constituency that are PDA and Verem from where the water is further supplied to other sumps, OHR\'S and GLR\'S by pumping. PDA station has 3 pumps out of which only one is operational and the other two are not in working condition whereas verem station has two pumps and currently only one is operational and the other one is again not in working condition.

The electro-mechanical section under sub-division IV (Four) of work division XVII (Seventeen) is inefficient and does not maintain the pumps properly. The department takes months together to repair a pump giving different excuses. Currently, we are depending on only one pump at each station, and by any chance if the pump fails people of my constituency will face restricted water supply in the peak of the summer season.

I request Hon\'ble Chief Minister who is also a Minister for Public Works Department to take strict action on the Public Works Department engineers and staff who neglect their duties and ask them for clarification.
